NeedleMania @ the Fairfield Public Library Woods Branch

[Editor's Note: This announcement was originally published on Nov. 3.]

The Woods Branch is hosting NeedleMania, a symposium on knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, tailoring, weaving and other needle crafts. This stimulating event will be on Saturday, November 5 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.

The keynote speaker is Peggy Gaffney, author of over nine knitting books and 100+ self-published knitting patterns.  She will speak on the creation of patterns, how knitting books are written and all the steps involved. Her books and patterns will be available for purchase. In addition, throughout the afternoon there will be demonstrations on knitting, crocheting, machine quilting, weaving, spinning and tailoring. Knitting experts will demonstrate how to block and finish a garment. A yarn swap is scheduled along with a discussion about Ravelry.com. For children ten years and older, there will be classes on making your own knitting needles in addition to learning a stitch or two. Also children will be able to make a placemat using Hungarian embroidery patterns.
