Be homeful efforts support great work in Fairfield County to help families

What a spring we’ve had! In May and June, libraries across the state hosted Paddington Storytimes for the be homeful project to raise awareness about family homelessness and encourage children to hold marmalade drives for the be homeful fund.

More than a hundred donations were made at People’s United Bank branches6f6d3f0e-3e98-459e-a195-1ae6b8b61222.jpg
around the state, with more than $10,000 raised to meet the UIL Holdings Corporation Foundation challenge. The fund is now up and running in Fairfield County, and people from CANs throughout the state are jumping on board to partner with CCEH in leveraging be homeful to assist families in their communities.

As part of their 100-day challenge, the Fairfield County families team diverted 34 families from shelter. The team was able to divert the majority of these families without financial assistance, but case workers also accessed resources from the be homeful fund to aid families that required emergency assistance for back-rent, security deposits, or ncidental expenses. Congratulations, Fairfield County 100-Day team and be homeful, on a job well done!
