Bicyclist Severely Injured In Crash Outside Fairfield Home Depot
The 50-year-old victim suffered injuries to his head, face, abdomen and extremities, according to Fairfield police.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A 50-year-old Bridgeport man is seriously injured after he was hit by a vehicle while bicycling in Fairfield, according to officials.
The crash was reported just before 2:30 p.m. on Grasmere Avenue near Home Depot, Fairfield Fire Department Lt. Dennis Eannotti said. The bicyclist suffered severe injuries to his head, face, abdomen and extremities, according to a news release from Fairfield police. He was treated on scene and taken to Bridgeport Hospital. The man's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Eannotti said. As of late Saturday afternoon, the bicyclist was in serious but stable condition, according to police.
Several people called 911 to report the crash, the news release said. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 60-year-old Westport resident was exiting the parking lot of Home Depot when the driver's vehicle collided with the northbound bicyclist, according to police, who said the bicycle was found under the vehicle and appeared to have been run over.
