Bonkers Cupcakes offers a range of cake and frosting flavors, and allows customers to mix and match.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfielders looking to buy cupcakes for a birthday, a party or just because have a new option after Bonkers Cupcakes opened its doors downtown last month.
The bakery celebrated its grand opening Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting at its store, 1618 Post Road. Owner Kris Stevens and his son and business partner, Mike Stevens, were joined by local officials including state Rep. Jennifer Leeper, Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Balaz and Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart.
Bonkers offers a range of cake and frosting flavors, and allows customers to mix and match. Options vary, but include classic cakes such as chocolate, vanilla, red velvet and carrot, as well as buttercreams like coconut, coffee, salted caramel and lemon.

“It feels great to make something people like and love doing it,” Kris Stevens said in a news release from the Office of Community and Economic Development. “We chose Fairfield for a combination of reasons including demographics, the universities, and because we live here (in Southport). Fairfield is an amazing community and the people here are nicer than anywhere I've ever lived. I really feel like we hit the jackpot in our location selection.”
Bonkers is open noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday to Monday. For more information, visit bonkerscupcakes.com.
