Boys Crash Into Headstones At Fairfield Cemetery: Police
The boys eventually abandoned the truck they were driving and fled on foot, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Two boys drove a truck through a Fairfield cemetery, crashing into several headstones, according to police.
The incident was reported about 10 a.m. Sunday by a resident, who said two juveniles appeared to have been involved in a collision at the Agudas Achim Cemetery, 135 Reid St., Fairfield police said in a news release.
An initial investigation revealed a 1989 GMC truck kept on the property was taken without permission by the boys, who drove it around the cemetery, damaging the lawn extensively and knocking the headstones to the ground, according to the news release. When the truck became disabled, the boys left the vehicle and fled on foot toward Pemburn Drive, police said.

“This investigation has led investigators to believe that this is solely a juvenile mischievous act and nothing to do with a crime of any religious hatred,” police said in the news release. “This appeared to have been a crime of opportunity and was caused by two males of juvenile age.”
The crash remained under investigation by police as of Sunday night. Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to contact Sgt. Michael Paris at 203-254-4862 or mparis@fairfieldct.org.
