Akita restaurant review
I recenlty bought a Groupn for Akita, a new Asian Fusion restaurant that replaced what was Kobis Japanese Steakhouse.
I recenlty bought a Groupn for Akita, a new Asian Fusion restaurant that replaced what was Steakhouse. I had been to Kobis several times and enjoyed the food while I was there, the service was far and ran into an issue one time that I went with my family.
About 2 weeks ago my boyfriend and I decided to cash in the groupon which was $30 for $60 worth of food. Which is an awesome deal in my opinion since I think HIbatchi tends to be a tad pricey. I was surprised to see that the decoration was exactly the same as Kobis and it didn't seem like there were any changes to make it look "new" or "improved."
The restaurant was pretty empty, there were only a handful of other diners there. We were sat at a Hibatchi table and proceeded to order drinks only to find it was BYOB. I think the restaurant is in the process of getting its liquor license because they had a list of beer, wine and mixed drinks on the back of the menu. We both ordered Hinatchi, the boyfriend getting steak and I got a seafood combination; shrimp, lobster, scallops.

We were pleasently surprised when we still got a show even though we were the only ones at our Hibatchi table. Our food was good, we got the usual salad with ginger dressing and soup to start. Our main meals were ok, nothing spectacular but not bad either. I really enjoyed the shrimp and lobster in mine, the scallops tasted funny to me. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak and we both left will full bellies.
We would probably give this restaurant a 2.5 out of 4 stars only because we didn't love the meal but we also didn't hate it. I think we would definitely go back and remember to grab a bottle of wine on our way!
