Why I Love Fairfield ~ Oliver Nurseries!
Another installment of Why I Love Fairfield!

Continuing with my love of Spring in Connecticut, I wanted to share my favorite place to go in the Spring right here in Fairfield. Oliver Nurseries, located at 1159 Bronson Road. Even if you don’t garden, this is the most beautiful place around to wander and behold Spring at it’s finest. Scott Jamison, the owner since 1986, has created not just a nursery to buy extraordinary plants, but in most cases see them in the ground, intertwined with unique sculpture, like those created by sculptor Roger DiTarando, or planted in pots in the most amazing ways. And the pots at Oliver Nurseries are very special. One of my favorites is the one covered with thousands of pebbles (see photo below). It is so beautiful in person and if anyone in my family is reading this…Mother’s Day.
Oliver Nurseries is the go to place for all your perennial, tree, bush and ground cover needs. Really anything you will need to create a beautiful garden of your own can be found here. The in-house designers will help with the design of your garden, large and small, and all purchases can be delivered and planted. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, which is so helpful if you are just starting out and need to know what to plant where, will the deer eat it, sun or shade, etc.???
They have a huge perennial sale the first Sunday of June (go early because this is a very popular event) and a nursery-wide sale the last weekend in June.
