Why I Love Fairfield…Osianna Mediterranean Taverna!

My office is right on Reef Road in the heart of downtown Fairfield. Located just a block down the street at 70 Reef Road is .

Osianna has been there for a couple of years, and I know several of my colleagues go there for lunch regularly, but I never do. So when I was looking for a place to take my daughter to lunch for her birthday and I needed it to be near my office, we gave it try. Good call, because it was absolutely delicious. The room is both warm and welcoming with fresh flowers and crisp white linens on the tables.

Our waitress immediately brought us complimentary hummus and crusty french bread. We ordered the Warm Spicy Feta with fresh tomatoes and hot chilies as our appetizer. It was warm and gooey and worth every calorie. For our entrees, we ordered the Chopped Salad with Grilled Haloumi Cheese tossed in lemon, extra virgin olive oil & light balsamic and the Lemon-Garlic Marinated Jumbo Shrimp with baby greens, white beans, asparagus and tomatoes tossed in a lemon and oil emulsion. Both were light and lovely, the shrimp grilled to perfection. We finished our lunch with a cappuccino and a shared decadent chocolate mousse with fresh raspberries. The meal was leisurely, lovely and everything was absolutely as it should be…yummy.

Osianna serves a prix fixe lunch for $12.95 and a prix fixe dinner for $21.00. The menu is varied with Italian entrees and several beef, lamb, chicken and seafood entrees. The atmosphere at Osianna is intimate and romantic, it is a place where you can hold a private conversation without yelling, always a plus. In warmer weather there is also an outdoor dining patio.

I plan on returning for dinner next time.
