Bradley Cooper's Summer In Southport: Fact Or Fiction?

Rumors flew. Gifts were sent to one Fairfield mansion. But we may never know for sure if Bradley Cooper spent the summer in town.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Is movie star Bradley Cooper living in Southport? Did he spend part of the summer there?

These are the questions Fairfielders have been asking for weeks, yet no clear answer has emerged.

One thing’s for sure, though: Cooper has not purchased the most expensive mansion in town.

In an attempt to dispel rumors that the celebrity bought the six-story residence at 640 Sasco Hill Road, Richard Higgins Jr., chief operating officer for the Higgins Group Private Brokerage, took to Facebook.

“Bradley Cooper … has NOT purchased 640 Sasco Hill Road, Fairfield, CT,” a message posted July 9 by Higgins said.

The 10-bedroom, nearly 18,000-square-foot home has been featured several times by Patch, most recently in February when it was spotlighted as the priciest house in town. Since then, its price tag has dropped nearly $9 million, from $28.5 million to just under $20 million, but it is still the most expensive residence in Fairfield. The mansion has two pools, a wine cellar and a dance studio, plus 18 bathrooms.

Higgins Group Chairman Richard Higgins last week addressed the situation involving Cooper in an article in Page Six, in which he said women were dropping off baked goods and dinner party invitations for Cooper at the house. Richard Higgins made similar statements in response to the Facebook post July 9.

"I was at the house today for a photo shoot and I was told by the caretaker how many people are coming to the gate with letters, muffins (she wanted him to bring back the plate personally, invitations etc.)," Richard Higgins said in a Facebook comment on the post. "We need to get the word out. He, Brad Pitt and Leo may be here in Fairfield but not at 640 Sasco Hill!"

The Greenwich Time’s “The Dish” reported this summer that Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio were seen taking a boat out on Long Island Sound and eating lunch with Pitt at Bartaco in Westport. The trio were also reported to have walked on the beach and dined at Fairfield restaurants Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill and Artisan Restaurant, as well as Pearl Restaurant & Bar in Westport, according to Page Six, which added that Pearl denied the actors ate at the establishment.

Page Six also embedded a tweet of a blurry photo, accompanied by text speculating the image might show Cooper, 45, at the Horseshoe Cafe in Southport, although a commenter posted in response to the tweet that she had taken the photo as a joke and that it was “absolutely not him.”

A source told Page Six the "A Star Is Born" actor is not renting a house in Connecticut and hasn’t even been there recently. Cooper was photographed a few weeks ago in Malibu, Page Six reported.
