FAIRFIELD, CT — Bribery charges have been dropped against Jason Julian, the developer at the center of the Fairfield fill pile case, but he still faces other charges in connection with the illegal dumping and corruption case, the Connecticut Post reported.

Julian had been accused of paying kickbacks to allow his company, Julian Enterprises, to dump contaminated soil and debris at various sites throughout Fairfield. Some, if not all, of those bribes were alleged to have gone to Scott Bartlett, Fairfield's former public works superintendent, who was sentenced to prison this summer in connection with a portion of the sprawling fill pile case.

Though the bribery charges have been dropped, Julian still faces multiple counts of first-degree larceny from a municipality and second-degree forgery, in addition to illegal dumping, handling solid waste without a permit, and related violations.

The fill pile trial for Julian and the other defendants is slated to begin next month. Former Fairfield public works director Joe Michelangelo pleaded guilty to several charges in the case, and is expected to testify against the others.
