Bridgeport Cop Punches Friend in Face at Fairfield Hotel, Gets Arrested and Suspended: Report

The police officer is also accused of driving under the influence and knocking over a fire hydrant and faces charges in both towns: BREAKING

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Bridgeport police officer is accused of punching a friend at the Fairfield Circle Inn and knocking over a fire hydrant while driving under the influence in Bridgeport, according to multiple reports.

The Fairfield Daily Voice reports Omar Jimenez, 33, of Bridgeport, faces charges in both Fairfield and Bridgeport and has been placed on administrative suspension.

Fairfield Police say Jimenez punched a friend in the face at the Fairfield Circle Inn after they were arguing over the fact that Jimenez was knocking on his door at 7 a.m. on Monday morning, according to the Connecticut Post.

Jimenez and a woman that was with him then went to back to a Black Rock restaurant to retrieve his car that he had left in the parking lot the night before, according to the Post.

Jimenez was then heading back to the Circle Inn when he allegedly struck a fire hydrant in Bridgeport and fled the scene.

The Daily Voice reports that Westport Police Chief Foti Koskinas witnessed the crash and followed Jimenez’s vehicle and alerted police to the accident.

Both Bridgeport and Fairfield police converged on the car in the Circle Inn parking lot and Jimenez was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests, according to the Daily Voice.
