VNS Clambake Nets $40,000 To Serve In-Need Patients

BRIDGEPORT—More than 140 community supporters, volunteers and agency staff turned out the evening of June 8th to raise about $40,000 to support home care for the underserved at the Visiting Nurse Services (VNS) of Connecticut 16th Annual Clambake fundraiser held at the Costa-Azzurra Restaurant, along Long Island Sound in Milford. VNS of Connecticut is one of the state’s largest non-profit home health care providers, serving 7,000 patients each year across Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties.

Event chairpersons were Karen Mercer of Trumbull and Patty Merola of Milford. All proceeds from the Clambake fundraising event benefit VNS’ Medically Underserved and Hospice at Home™ programs, which provide compassionate home care and comfort for 2,000 in-need individuals and families who may not have other home health care options.

Presenting sponsor for this year’s Clambake was UBS. Lead sponsor was CIGNA. Event sponsors were Bridgeport Hospital, The DSA Companies, HealthWyse, Key Insurance & Benefits Services, Medtronic Care Management Services, People’s United Insurance Agency, Pullman & Comley, Robinson & Cole LLP, St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Workers’ Compensation Trust. Clambake event contributors were Borghesi Building & Engineering, Brody Wilkinson PC, Drew Professional Recruiters, Inc., L.P. MacAdams, Inc. and SEB Actuaries & Administrators.
