FAIRFIELD, CT — The Westport girls’ soccer coach who was arrested for indecent exposure in Fairfield, told police that it’s “possible” that he accidentally exposed himself to a teenage female, according to the Connecticut Post.
David Sharpe, 29, of Warren Avenue in Fairfield, was arrested on a warrant on Dec. 1 following an investigation that began on Oct. 23 when a female pedestrian reported that a man in his car exposed himself. The incident occurred in the area of Old Post Road and South Benson Road. The victim gave responding officers an accurate description of the suspect, who was later identified as Sharpe, and the vehicle that he was driving.
Sharpe was arrested on charges of public indecency and breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear in court on Dec. 13. Police said Sharpe resigned from his coaching position at Staples High School in Westport after his interview with detectives. He was listed as an assistant coach for the Staples girls’ varsity soccer team on the CIAC website.

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, told police that she saw a man (later identified as Sharpe) masturbating in the car while looking at her during the Oct. 23 incident, according to the Connecticut Post. Sharpe told police that because he’s heavier than he should be, he drives with his jeans unbuttoned and it’s a “big possible” that he could have been exposed while driving, the Post reports.
Police are investigating a similar incident in Norwalk in which Sharpe is a suspect and additional charges are possible.
