College Student Hospitalized After Choking During Pancake-Eating Contest In Fairfield: Report

The Sacred Heart University student was reportedly listed in critical condition.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A pancake-eating contest turned into an emergency situation on the Sacred Heart University campus Thursday night when a student was rushed to the hospital after choking while participating in the Greek Life dinner event, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports the 21-year-old female student is in critical, condition.

Police had to physically remove food from the student’s throat after the Heimlich maneuver was unsuccessful, according to the Post. Police said the student apparently had multiple food allergies.
