Comedians Come Together For Fundraiser In Fairfield

A group of local stand-up comedians will perform Thursday night in an event to benefit Fairfield families in need.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A group of local stand-up comedians are coming together for a night of laughs and fundraising for Fairfield families in need. The first “Cause You Need A Laugh” event will take place at The Seagrape Café, located at 1144 Reef Road in Fairfield, on Thursday, March 8 at 8 p.m. and features six local up-and-coming stand-up comedians. Admission is free, but donations are strongly accepted and encouraged, according to organizers. The event benefits the Fairfield Department of Social Services and its “Campership” Program.

"What could be better than raising money for our Campership Program, sending kids to summer camp and having fun doing it?,” Terry Giegengack, Director of Human Services for the Town of Fairfield, said in a press release. “Donations made during the event will help support The Bigelow Center’s annual Campership Program, which last year helped 20 families send their children to local camps while their parents were at work.

“There are already 15 children on a waiting list to attend camps this summer. We truly appreciate the support—and laughter—of the Fairfield community.”

The comedic concept of longtime Fairfield resident and rookie stand-up Mat Orefice, “Cause You Need A Laugh” is a night where everyone wins.

“Fairfield kids get the chance to attend summer camp, local residents can enjoy a much-needed laugh, and comedians will have a place to share their funny stuff,” Orefice said.
