'Concerning' TikTok Videos Investigated By Fairfield Police

A 14-year-old has been charged in connection with the videos, which were circulated among students at Tomlinson Middle School, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 14-year-old boy was arrested by Fairfield police Thursday on a charge of breach of peace in connection with "concerning" TikTok videos that were circulated among students at Tomlinson Middle School, according to authorities.

Police did not disclose the nature of the video, but two were posted. Authorities immediately sprung into action Thursday after being contacted by school officials.

"Fairfield Police School Safety Officers were immediately notified and conducted an investigation," said Fairfield Police Lt. Michael Paris in a statement. "A juvenile male student who created the video was quickly identified and assessed by the school safety team and school faculty."

The School Safety Division and the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau "have thoroughly investigated the facts and circumstances" of the videos and the juvenile, and they have determined that there was "no credible threat."

Paris said that the videos appear to have been published on Thursday "and circulated until our notification."

"These videos were just alarming in nature, not necessarily threatening," Paris told Patch. "Not appropriate to post given the climate of school incidents."

Police said the 14-year-old, who is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Juvenile Court at a later date, was arrested due to "the alarm caused by his social media posts."

"The Fairfield Police Department School Safety Division would like to remind parents to talk to their children about their social media use and that potentially threatening posts of any kind will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly," Paris said.
