Connecticut Ratha Yatra Festival 2016
The Oriya Community of Connecticut, celebrated Ratha-Yatra on Saturday, July 9th 2016. Its associated with Hindu god Lord Jagannath !!
Connecticut 9 th July 2016 : The Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra was celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervor in WIlton,Connecticut,USA on this Saturday . Connecticut is a southern New England state that's a mix of coastal cities and rural areas dotted with small towns. Connecticut is New England’s second smallest and southernmost state. Its 5,009 square miles (13,023 square kilometers) are bordered by New York State on the west, Rhode Island on the east, Massachusetts on the north and by Long Island sound on the south.
The Jagannath temple in Wilton established in 2015 on donations from members of the city’s Odia fraternity and the three idols---Lord Jagannath and his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra---were moved from a rented (Stratford Hindu temple ) and consecrated at the shrine.
It is observed approximately 400+ people attended Connecticut's Ratha-Yatra Festival, which began with an invoking ceremony in the morning, followed by a chariot-pulling.
