Cops Told To Withhold Information About Julian Enterprises Raid

Julian Enterprises is in a years-long legal battle with the town of Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Lawyers working for the town of Fairfield asked police to withhold information from Fairfield officials about a raid on the offices of a property manager in a legal battle with the town, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

Arbitration over the fill pile on Richard White Way started earlier in the month, but stopped abruptly after the offices of Julian Enterprises in Fairfield were served with a search and seizure warrant, the Citizen reports.

Email correspondence from attorney Stuart Katz obtained by the Citizen confirmed computers and other property were taken from the company's offices, and also asked Fairfield police not to share any information from the search with selectmen or involved town employees. First Selectman Mike Tetreau forwarded the correspondence to selectmen, police officials and other town lawyers.

The legal dispute started in 2017, when the town sought $3 million in damages and claimed breach of contract after Julian was hired to reduce the fill pile and it tripled in size, according to the Citizen. Police also launched a criminal investigation into possible misconduct at the pile, the Citizen reports. Julian later countersued the town for defamation. Both lawsuits were withdrawn last year and the two parties agreed to enter arbitration.
