Coronavirus Fairfield: Police Supporting Local Restaurants

Fairfield police are encouraging residents to order pickup and delivery to support restaurants closed amid coronavirus precautions.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Police Department is launching a campaign to support local restaurants while the businesses are limited to serving takeout and delivery due to precautions surrounding the new coronavirus.

Each day, members of the Fairfield Police Department will get lunch or dinner from a different restaurant in Fairfield as part of the department's new “Law and Order ... To Go” campaign.

Many of Fairfield's restaurants are still open and their employees are working hard despite the requirement that restaurant dining rooms be closed.

"This is an idea that a couple of our officers came up with and I think it's a really great thing to do and an awesome way to show support for our local businesses here in Fairfield during these difficult times," Chief Christopher Lyddy said in a department news release.

The department is encouraging Fairfielders to order a meal for pickup or delivery and share the hashtag #LawandOrderToGoFairfield with a picture of the customer and their takeout containers.

The department is also reminding people not to pose for group photos and to tip delivery drivers, order online or over the phone, and buy gift cards from local restaurants.
