COVID-19 Tests To Be Distributed Sunday in Fairfield After Delays
Fairfield received fewer coronavirus test kits from the state than the town was promised earlier in the week, the first selectwoman said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield officials will distribute coronavirus test kits Sunday, several days later than planned, after a shipment of kits for Connecticut fell through earlier in the week.
The town will receive 32 cases of 9,216 FlowFlex kits, with each kit containing a single test, First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said Saturday in an email to residents.
“The amount of kits we are receiving is less than we were previously promised earlier this week,” Kupchick said in the email. “The state has requested some of the kits be set aside for school staff in an effort to be sure in-person learning is not disrupted.”

The distribution will take place noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, or until supplies last, at Roger Ludlowe Middle School. Fairfielders should enter at 440 Mill Plain Road and provide proof of residency via a 2021 beach or dump sticker, or driver’s license. The kits are intended for those who are symptomatic or have been exposed to the virus. Each household will receive four kits and four masks.
The event was originally planned for Thursday, after testing demand outpaced availability in Connecticut, high case numbers were reported across the state and Gov. Ned Lamont promised 500,000 at-home test kits to the state’s municipalities.

However, the 500,000 kits never made it off the tarmac on the West Coast, and Lamont later disclosed that no money had been exchanged for the tests, although a separate shipment of kits did later arrive in Connecticut, the governor announced Friday.
Additional information on where residents can get masks will be posted on fairfieldct.org, according to Kupchick.
