Delivery Van Stolen At Gunpoint In Fairfield: Police

The suspect got in the van while the driver was making a delivery and threatened the driver at gunpoint, according to police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A delivery van was stolen while the driver was making a delivery Saturday night in Fairfield, according to police.

Police responded around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 to the 200 block of Woodrow Avenue in the Southport section of Fairfield on the report of a stolen delivery vehicle.

A delivery driver told police that their vehicle had been taken moments earlier while making a delivery.

Police said an investigation found that while the driver got out of the vehicle to deliver a package, an unknown person entered the van through an open passenger-side door.

The driver tried to intervene but was threatened at gunpoint by the suspect, who drove away in the delivery van, according to police.

Police said the driver wasn’t injured and asked nearby residents to contact police.

“Using a tracking application, police quickly located the delivery vehicle abandoned at the intersection of Gray Rock Road and Daves Lane,” police wrote in a news release. “Stolen items, including the driver’s personal belongings, were recovered intact.”

Police are asking residents and businesses in the area to review their surveillance systems and share any relevant footage with the Fairfield Police Department.
