Driver Crashes Into Fairfield Store: Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — An elderly driver crashed into the front window of a liquor store Thursday afternoon in Fairfield, according to police.
The driver mistook the gas pedal for the brake, accelerated unexpectedly, and drove into the display window at Grasmere Wine and Liquor, 154 Post Road, police said.
No injuries were reported, but the incident did cause significant damage, according to police. The town building department was contacted to evaluate structural damage to the store, but the vehicle suffered only minor damage, police said.
