Fairfield Woman Accused Of Setting Multifamily Home On Fire: Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 36-year-old Fairfield man has been arrested on an arson charge, after police said he set fire to a duplex he owns on Castle Avenue.

The fire, which was deemed suspicious by authorities, was reported on Thursday. No injuries were reported.

"During the investigation, witnesses reported observing the homeowner intentionally set fire to the exterior of the residence before leaving the area in a vehicle," Fairfield police wrote on Facebook.

Once the blaze was extinguished by Fairfield firefighters, officials determined the damaged two-family home was uninhabitable, CT Insider reported.

Officers found the vehicle witnesses had described and apprehended Mikaelle Rosw, charging her with third-degree arson.

Rosw was held in lieu of bail of $500,000, and she was scheduled to be arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court on Friday.

The American Red Cross is assisting the two families displaced by the fire — three adults and three children — in finding temporary housing.
