Employees Form Human Shield Around Assault Victim at Rest Stop in Fairfield: Report
The rest area employees came to the woman's rescue after police say she was being repeatedly assaulted by her boyfriend.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Employees at the I-95 southbound rest area in Fairfield are being credited with saving a woman from further abuse by forming a human shield around her after she was being repeatedly assaulted by her boyfriend, according to the Connecticut Post.
The Post reports the incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Thursday, and employees at McDonald’s and other shops were able to protect the 22-year-old victim until state police arrived and arrested Wesley Hammond, 23, of Bridgeport.
The victim told police that she was repeatedly struck in the face by Hammond after he called her stupid for not knowing the way when they got lost driving from Norwalk to a friend’s home in Trumbull, according to the Post.
