The Enchanted Castle is Back
The Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County has revived a beloved Halloween tradition.

Have you missed the Enchanted Castle? Since 2015, this much-loved family celebration has been on hiatus. Now, the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County (JLEFC) is proud to bring back a tradition that Fairfield County families enjoyed for more than 20 years. The Enchanted Castle’s grand re-opening will be held October 24 at the Burr Homestead in Fairfield, and the Castle will be open through October 30.
The Enchanted Castle first opened in 1991, and for 22 years, the Ahlbin Auxiliary of Bridgeport Hospital ran an event cherished by local families. After a 3-year break, the Auxiliary passed the torch to the JLEFC in 2019. This year, families are invited on a magical, non-scary tour through the Burr Homestead, where each room will feature a fairy-tale theme. Characters like Cinderella, the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin will wait around every corner. The event is ideal for children 2–10 years of age, but breathtaking decorations and delightful stories told by the characters will captivate guests of all ages. At the end of the Castle tour, families are welcome to stay for food, drinks, a “boo-tique”, and more.
The JLEFC is a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of those in need in the Greater Bridgeport area. Taking on the Enchanted Castle will help the JLEFC forge a stronger relationship with the community: more than 350 locals will volunteer alongside League members to produce the event. In addition, proceeds from the Enchanted Castle will directly benefit the League’s work with community organizations like Operation Hope, Caroline House, and many others.

Said Kate Browning, JLEFC President, “The Enchanted Castle is a Fairfield County institution, and having it back means so much to so many families. We are thrilled to take over for the Ahlbin Auxiliary, who devoted 22 years to this project, and to work with an enthusiastic team of volunteers. We look forward to enchanting our community for many years to come.”
