Best-selling Author, Joseph Kanon, visits Fairfield Public Library

Best-selling author, Joseph Kanon is presenting his newly released book, Istanbul Passage (Atria Books, 5/29/12), on Tuesday,  June 19 at noon in the Rotary Room at the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road.  The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library will provide a light luncheon following his lecture.  Please register for the talk and luncheon as space is limited.

Istanbul Passage is the gripping tale of an American undercover agent in 1945 Istanbul, who descends into the murky cat-and-mouse world of compromise and betrayal that will come to define the entire post-war era. A neutral capital straddling Europe and Asia, Istanbul has spent the war as a magnet for refugees and spies, trafficking in secrets and lies rather than soldiers.  Expatriate American businessman Leon Bauer was drawn into this shadow world, doing undercover odd jobs and courier runs in support of the Allied war effort.  Now as the espionage community begins to pack up and an apprehensive city prepares for the grim realities of postwar life, Leon is given one last routine assignment.  When the job goes fatally wrong, Leon is plunged into a tangle of intrigue, shifting loyalties, and moral uncertainty.  “I devoured this book of multi-layered intrigue and great writing,” remarked Town Librarian Karen Ronald

Joseph Kanon is the author of five other novels, Los Alamos, The Prodigal Spy, The Good German, Alibi, and Stardust.  Before becoming a full-time writer, he was a book publishing executive.  He lives in New York City.
