Meet the Author Charlotte Rogan, The Lifeboat

In the opening pages of The Lifeboat, readers meet Grace Winter, a 22-year-old newlywed - and widow - on trial for her life in 1914. After an explosion aboard the ocean liner carrying them home to America, Grace’s new husband, Henry, secures her a place in one of the few available lifeboats. Unfortunately, too many people have done the same, and the lifeboat is radically over capacity: for anyone to live, some must die. What price is Grace willing to pay to keep her privileged existence, now that she has finally found it? The Lifeboat is a powerful novel of circumstances gone horribly wrong, narrated by a woman as unforgettable as the events she describes.

Charlotte Rogan studied architecture at Princeton University, graduating in 1975. She lives in Westport, Connecticut. The Lifeboat is her first novel.
