Fairfield Bank Robbed Wednesday: Police
A man walked up to the teller window and gave employees a note instructing them to cooperate because a robbery was underway, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A bank was robbed Wednesday afternoon in Fairfield, according to police.
The robbery occurred just before 2 p.m., when law enforcement received a call from People’s United Bank, located in Stop & Shop at 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff, police said in a news release.
When officers arrived, the suspect had fled, according to police. Bank workers told officers that a man walked up to the teller window and gave employees a note instructing them to cooperate because a robbery was underway, police said. The man did not show a weapon, according to police. Employees complied with the man’s demand and he fled Stop & Shop with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Bank workers described the suspect as a man who was white or Asian; about 5 feet, 7 inches tall; and wearing a blue mask and a red hat, according to police. The man was driving a small blue compact car and left going westbound on Route 1, police said.
No one was injured, according to police.
