Fairfield-Based Bigelow Expanding, Buys 25 Acres In Shelton
The Fairfield company plans to build a large warehouse in the next five years to meet its distribution needs.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield-based Bigelow Tea Co. is expanding to Shelton and beyond.
The company announced in a news release it had reached an agreement with the city of Shelton to buy about 25 acres on the former Mas property, with plans to build a large warehouse in the next five years to meet its distribution needs.
“We are blessed to be a growing family company,” said President and CEO Cindi Bigelow in the news release. “We are also expanding our other two facilities in Louisville, Kentucky, and in Boise, Idaho.”

Bigelow’s headquarters and production facility have been located in Connecticut for more than 70 years.
The former Mas property is a vacant 70-acre parcel in Shelton, the New Haven Register reported Friday. The city has plans to apply for a zone change to the property, extending Constitution Boulevard West at a cost of up to $10 million as part of the development, and creating a manufacturing park, according to the Register.
