Fairfield To Break Ground On 4-Unit Affordable Housing Development

The town is teaming with Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County on the project.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The town will break ground this week on a small, affordable housing complex on Greenfield Street in Fairfield's Tunxis Hill area.

The project, which is in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, will be for four, duplex-style homes once completed.

On Thursday afternoon, officials from Fairfield and Habitat will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the site, which is at 240-246 Greenfield Street.

The Greenfield Street development marks the first project that Habitat is building in Fairfield, after the organization has built nearly 300 affordable housing units throughout Fairfield County.

Under the partnership, Fairfield is providing the land and retaining title to the property, while Habitat is paying the development costs, according to Fairfield's Office of Community & Economic Development.
