FAIRFIELD, CT — The town is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, Inc. to develop a small affordable housing complex on Greenfield Street in Fairfield's Tunxis Hill area.

Though the proposal for 244 Greenfield St. still has to receive approval by the Plan and Zoning Commission, officials hope to break ground on the four-unit development in 2023.

The project calls for four, duplex-style homes at the site, after the structure currently on the property is torn down.

"I'm so excited about this project," Kupchick said. "I couldn't think of a better organization to partner with us."

The proposal marks the first project that Habitat will build in Fairfield, after the organization has built more than 270 affordable housing units throughout Fairfield County.

According to Mark Barnhart, director of Fairfield's Office of Community & Economic Development, the town will provide land and retain title.

"Habitat will handle all aspects of the development costs, which we like," Barnhart said. "They’ve done this before, and have done a great job."
