Fairfield Chef Wins Food Network Competition
The chef competed in an episode of the popular show, which featured Martha Stewart as a judge.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield chef was crowned a “Chopped” champion on Tuesday night’s episode of the popular Food Network show. Chef Eric Felitto won the “Breakfast Battle” competition, which was perfectly suited for his expertise. Felitto and longtime friend Mike Bertanza recently opened the popular gourmet breakfast food truck, The Tasty Yolk, in Fairfield. The Fairfield Tasty Yolk location is the third overall and first in their hometown.
Felitto hosted a watch party for the “Chopped” episode at his restaurant, The Chelsea in Fairfield, on Tuesday night. Martha Stewart was a judge on the episode. Felitto told News12 Connecticut that his appearance was filmed about a year ago and he was forced to keep the episode’s results a secret until Tuesday night.
In the episode, the chefs “get bountiful breakfast foods in every basket and are asked to stretch the most important meal of the day into three indulgent courses,” according to the description on the Food Network website. “They even get to work with farm fresh eggs direct from the chicken coops of judge Martha Stewart! A series of mishaps plagues one of the competitors in the second round, and then in the dessert round, French toast and Chinese porridge must find a place in the remaining chefs' final dishes.”
