Fairfield Cop Pays For Shoplifter’s Clothes: Report

This is certainly something you don't see every day…

FAIRFIELD, CT — Here’s something you don’t see every day… A woman was arrested for attempting to steal $200 worth of clothes from Kohl’s but still got to bring them home thanks to a responding officer who paid the bill.

The woman, 27-year-old Dannella Scarlett of Bridgeport, had two young children with her — an infant and a 6-year-old girl — when she was stopped by store security for allegedly trying to steal the items, according to the Fairfield Citizen. Scarlett told police she was stealing the clothes for her daughters because she had fallen on hard times, according to the Citizen.

Sgt. Hector Irizarry told the Citizen he decided to pay for the stolen items because he felt compelled to help a person in need and show that police cared her and her family.
