Fairfield Coronavirus Update: 7 Deaths, 144 Confirmed Cases

The new numbers indicate an increase of two deaths and 50 confirmed cases in Fairfield since the last town update Tuesday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Seven Fairfield residents have died after contracting the new coronavirus and there are 144 confirmed cases in town as of Friday morning, according to an email from the first selectwoman. The most recent numbers indicate an increase of two deaths and 50 confirmed cases since the last town update Tuesday.

In order to slow the virus, which has resulted in the closure of parks, non-essential businesses and school buildings, people should only interact with members of their immediate household, maintain social distancing while getting groceries and medical supplies, and wear a cloth face covering in public, First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said in the email to residents. People should not host barbecues, parties or events that involve guests from outside their household.

“I know this is a very challenging time for everyone in our community, but we simply won’t be able to stop the spread of this highly contagious virus unless we each do our part,” Kupchick said in the email. “We need to hold the line for a few more weeks to get through the peak, and hopefully, if we all do our part, we can begin the process of coming out of this pandemic and begin to resume our normal activities.”
