Fairfield Doctor Fined By State For Over-Prescribing Opioids

His license was also placed on probation.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield doctor was recently fined and placed on probation for over-prescribing opioids, according to the nonprofit Connecticut Health Investigative Team. Dr. Naeem Sarfraz was fined $7,500 by the state's Medical Examining Board for prescribing excessive doses for five patients in 2017, the nonprofit reported. Safraz's license was placed on probation for 18 months. He did not contest the allegations. The board also reprimanded doctors from South Windsor and Colchester at its July 16 meeting, according to the nonprofit.
