The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
The single most pressing issue facing our town is quality of life and dealing with the financial and environmental fallout from the fill pile scandal that occurred under the previous administration. Traffic congestion and over development are ruining the bucolic nature of our community. Expenses are up as our hard-earned tax dollars are diverted to clean up the file pile, Penfield, and and our parks. We need to focus on well planned commercial development to strengthen our tax base and ease the financial tax burden on homeowners. We also need to make wise investments infrastructure improvements by seeking out grant opportunities that will return our state and federal tax dollars to projects that benefit Fairfield.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I am an experienced voice on the RTM. As the Former Moderator and current Caucus Leader, I have a proven ability to work across the aisle in the best interests of all the residents of Fairfield. Additionally, I have served on the Board of Education, two school building committees, and and several Town appointed commissions. I understand the multi-faced layers of our Town government operations.
Accomplishments:
I have served as both RTM Moderator and RTM Caucus Leader. I successfully helped negotiate a bi-partisan voter district reapportionment, I helped negotiate a flat tax increase in 2020, I initiated the streamlining of the RTM committee presentation process, and I successfully led the effort to reform the Town Department Heads pension program, and as well as the Town’s transient merchant ordinance.
Other issues:
Additional platform pieces: continuing the work that has begun to modernize and build a more efficient government accountable to the taxpayer, supporting financial initiatives and economic development to ease the tax burden for residents, advocation for academic excellence in Fairfield’s schools, protecting our residential neighborhoods, open space and our shoreline; and building a healthy community that addresses mental health needs engages respectful dialogue, and and serves the overall well-being of our residents.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I ran for office to make a difference in my community, first as a member of the Board of Education and now as a member of the RTM. I love Fairfield, I grew up in a neighboring town, and we chose Fairfield to raise our children because of its socio-economic diversity and quality schools. I’m committed to being your voice on the RTM. I believe in open, transparent, and honest government. Nationally, things have become divisive, we cannot allow that divisiveness to trickle down to Fairfield. I believe in constructive conversation, civil debate, and working together. Our best solutions come from collaboration as neighbors first and foremost, not political agents. I remain committed to representing my neighbors to the best of my ability to provide the quality services we all expect, and conscious of the cost to provide those services so that we can all afford to live here.
