FAIRFIELD, CT — Timothy Dwight Elementary School in Fairfield is facing possible closure due to redistricting, but not if some determined families have anything to say about it.

While no specific decisions have been made to close the Redding Road school, families who oppose such efforts rallied Saturday at Sherman Green, and said that they have heard of the possibility, reported News 12 Connecticut.

A crowd of more than 60 people rallied at the green Saturday, chanting "Save our school" and other slogans, reported the Fairfield Citizen.

The discussion about the school's possible closure is due to efforts to help address racial imbalances in some of the town's school, but parents who oppose the possible closure argue that closing the school could cause overcrowding and problems at other schools.
