Fairfield First Selectman Announces Engagement

Michael C. Tetreau, First Selectman for the Town of Fairfield and fiancé Giulia A. Nesi are pleased to announce their recent engagement. The couple (who met through an online dating service) was surprised to learn on their first date, they live less than one mile apart. In search of privacy, the couple enjoyed their initial dates outside the Town of Fairfield in surrounding areas, and felt an instant connection, dating three times within the first week of their having met.

Tetreau grew up in Fairfield and is one of three sons of the late Fern (Coach) and Rowena Tetreau. He attended school in the Fairfield Public School system (Holland Hill Elementary and Tomlinson Middle) and graduated from Roger Ludlowe High and from Princeton University with a BSE Degree.

Nesi, grew up in Pelham, N.Y., and is one of three children of the late Rocco and Silvia Nesi. She spent her childhood summers on Fairfield Beach and moved to Fairfield when she began her professional career. Nesi holds an undergraduate degree (BSW) in social work from the University of New Hampshire and a graduate degree (MSW) from Fordham University.

Nesi works full time in the spirituality and health field as a Christian Science practitioner, teacher and lecturer. Prior to this she worked extensively in both the public and private sector as a licensed psychotherapist.

Approximately eight months after the fateful day, after having recently re-watched their favorite movie “When Harry Met Sally,” Tetreau invited Nesi to a special “sunrise event” on Sasco Beach, the same date as his parents wedding anniversary and father’s birthday.

As the couple walked along the beach Tetreau, “Said all the things a woman wants to hear before a man asks her to marry him,” said Nesi. “Including that wonderful quote from the movie, ‘when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.’ Tetreau then got down on one knee and asked Nesi to be his wife. She said yes! “A great start to our day and to the rest of our lives!!,” said Tetreau.

The couple soon gave up on their secret rendezvous’ and now enjoy attending special events and dining in Fairfield’s many fine restaurants. They are planning a private summer 2018 wedding.
