Fairfield Funeral Director Named President Of Funeral Directors Association

He received his professional training from the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Jonathan L. Green has been elected president of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association, the organization announced.

Green, who previously served as the association’s vice president, was elected to the role for 2026 at the CFDA Annual Meeting and Convention in December. He has been a member of the association’s executive committee for the past five years and currently chairs its Legislative Committee.

Green is a licensed funeral director and embalmer at Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home in Fairfield, where he works alongside his father, Samuel A. Green. The funeral home was founded in 1948 by Green’s grandfather, Abraham L. Green.

"It is a privilege to lead the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association, and I look forward to collaborating with our Executive Committee, staff, and membership as a whole as we continue to provide meaningful experiences for the families we serve," Green said in a statement. "I appreciate the profound dedication of fellow funeral directors across the state who set high professional standards and offer families a growing array of opportunities to honor their loved ones."

Licensed in 2013, Green received his professional training from the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City, graduating summa cum laude. He holds multiple professional credentials, including Certified Funeral Service Practitioner, Certified Planning Consultant and Certified Cremation Services Provider. Green earned a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and pursued graduate studies at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. He is also a former licensed emergency medical technician.

Green lives in Fairfield with his wife, Emily. He serves as president of KAVOD – The National Independent Jewish Funeral Chapels and is president of the Men’s Club at Mozaic Senior Life in Bridgeport. He is a member of Congregation B’nai Israel and Congregation Rodeph Sholom, both in Bridgeport.
