FAIRFIELD, CT — A 9-year-old girl called 9-1-1 out of concern for her mother, who had fallen and struck her head and now faces charges after arriving officers found her to be intoxicated and unable to care for children, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
The Citizen reports officers responded to the Garden Drive home on Sunday evening and found Victoria Leonard, 37, lying face down on her daughter’s bed with a cigarette in her hand. Her 4-year-old daughter was also in the home at the time.
The 9-year-old reported to police that her mother had been shouting their father’s name and that he also lived at the home but hadn’t been seen since Friday, according to the Citizen.
The girls had stayed with their aunt over the weekend and she came back to take custody of them after Leonard was arrested, according to the Citizen.
