Fairfield Library Announces 'One Book One Town' Writing Contest

The writing contest at the Fairfield Library includes adults, teens, and children. The submission deadline is Wednesday, February 22.

From the Fairfield Public Library: The Fairfield Public Library, along with its community partners – Pequot Library, Fairfield University, Fairfield University Bookstore and Fairfield Museum and History Center, just announced two books for this year’s read: Books for Living by Will Schwalbe and A Child of Books by author-illustrator Oliver Jeffers and typographic artist Sam Winston.

This is the seventh year that the Library is sponsoring a writing contest in conjunction with One Book One Town. This year’s contest includes adults, teens (ages 13-18) and children (6-12). Writers are invited to submit an essay (500 word maximum) on the topic: “A Book that Speaks to Me Personally.” This is a prominent theme in Will Schwalbe’s Books for Living.

Send your entry via email attachment to “fairfieldisreading@gmail.com” and ensure that the attachment contains only the title of your work, not your name. Also please include a cover sheet with your name, contact information, word count, and title of the piece. Winners will be notified by March 10 and will be invited to read their entries at the Library. They will also be invited to attend a special reception with author Will Schwalbe before his presentation on March 15. The submission deadline is Wednesday, February 22.
