Fairfield Library to Host a 'Musical Feast'

The Lions Gate Trio, the Library's chamber music trio-in-residence, will return to perform two concerts on Sunday, March 12.

From the Fairfield Public Library: The Lions Gate Trio, the Library’s chamber music trio-in-residence, returns to perform two concerts on Sunday, March 12. The afternoon will begin with a Performance for Young Listeners at 1:15 pm. Music students in grades 3 and up are invited to join the Lions Gate Trio in an interactive workshop about chamber music, collaboration and musical syntax. This will be a lively and educational event including rhythmic and melodic perception play for all. Excerpts from trios by Beethoven, Smetana and Brahms will be featured.

For the Winter Concert at 3:00 pm, the Trio will perform some of the greatest chamber music written for piano trio. This musical feast will include the playful Kakadu Variations by Beethoven, the fervid passions and polkas of Smetana's G Minor Trio, and the glorious Romantic architecture of the C Minor Trio by Brahms.

Both concerts will be held in the Memorial Room at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. Registration is requested due to limited seating.
