Fairfield Man Accused Of Identity Theft, Forgery: Police

The man was arrested after an extensive investigation, according to police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield man faces a slew of identity theft charges following an extensive investigation, according to police. The investigation, conducted during October and November, resulted in the arrest of Tajh Eric Wiley, a police news release said.

The Fairfield Police Emergency Services Unit executed a warrant about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wiley's Edward Street residence, according to the news release. Wiley was home at the time and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The warrant charged Wiley, 23, with three counts of conspiracy to commit identity theft, three counts of attempted identity theft, conspiracy to commit larceny, attempted larceny and trafficking personal information, according to police. He was held on $150,000 bond for the charges, police said.

In addition to the warrant charges, Wiley was also charged with four counts of criminal impersonation and four counts of forgery after police found four fake Connecticut driver's licenses in Wiley's home, according to the news release. Wiley's bond for the additional charges was set at $5,000, police said.

Wiley is due Dec. 6 in court, where he has yet to enter a plea for either set of charges, according to court records.
