Fairfield Mobil Raises More Than $12,000 for Komen Connecticut

Proceeds from October "Fuel for a Cure" breast cancer campaign will benefit local women

Fairfield Mobil’s Jafaar Kafel and United Bank’s Robert Kell presented a check this week for $12,431.71 to the Connecticut Affiliate of Susan G. Komen®, proceeds from the October “Fuel for a Cure” campaign.

“We are so fortunate to have dedicated partners like Fairfield Mobil in the local fight against breast cancer,” said Anne Morris, Komen Connecticut CEO. “Fairfield Mobil’s ‘Fuel for a Cure’ campaign is a perfect example of how local and small businesses can make a real difference and we are thankful for their generosity. These dollars are so important in helping Connecticut women with necessary treatment, support and education and in funding lifesaving research.”

During October, nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Fairfield Mobil and its partners, Alliance Energy, Attorney Bruce Temkin, United Bank and Gerber Brothers, donated six cents from every gallon to Komen Connecticut. Kafel, Fairfield Mobil operator, would like to continue the campaign each year. He hopes to extend “Fuel for a Cure” to other stations in Connecticut. “It is important to me and my organization to give back to the community and Komen Connecticut is a great organization that helps fight breast cancer right here in Connecticut,” he said.
