Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara Injured in Three-Car Crash Tuesday Morning

MacNamara was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for reportedly "non-life-threatening" injuries.

Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for “non-life-threatening” injuries sustained in a three-car accident when his vehicle was rear-ended Tuesday morning, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

The Citizen reports that MacNamara was stopped at a traffic light at Post and Reef Roads just before 9:30 a.m. when his cruiser was hit from behind by a BMW SUV just a block away from police headquarters.

The cruiser MacNamara was in was then pushed into an occupied Volkswagen that was parked on Reef Road, according to the Citizen.

WFSB 3 is reporting that MacNamara had to be cut out of his vehicle and that the woman who struck his car allegedly told police that she was distracted.
