Fairfield Republicans Respond To Fill Pile Case Developments

From the Fairfield Republican Town Committee:

The illegal dumping of contaminants and the subsequent cover up and conspiracy under the previous administration has cost taxpayers millions of dollars with more to come. We are grateful the judge denied the accelerated rehabilitation requested by the town’s former CFO, Robert Mayer. Mayer, also a former Democratic Town Committee member, and a former Democratic member of the Board of Finance, will now join six other defendants in court who are themselves facing public corruption charges as part of conspiracy and cover up related to the fill pile.

There are also other officials who have been declared “uncharged co-conspirators” in this ongoing criminal investigation, including former Democratic First Selectman Mike Tetreau.

We are disappointed with the elected Democratic leaders who failed to provide proper oversight and accountability of their party’s leader while the Democratic Town Committee stood by silently, which has left our town at risk and facing significant financial liabilities.

Since that time, key Fairfield Democratic leaders have also fought Town Hall reform that was designed to modernize town government and prevent future acts of corruption.

We are Fairfielders first, Republicans second, and will always govern with the best interests of the people in our community in mind.

We once again call on Fairfield Democrats to stop their partisan obstruction and work with First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick to clean up corruption and reform Town Hall that began under their watch and while they were in power.
