Fairfield Resident has Lead Role in Quinnipiac University's Production of '1918'

Quinnipiac University's Theater for Community will perform '1918' April 16-19 in the Clarice L. Buckman Theater.

Quinnipiac University’s Theater for Community will present Horton Foote’s acclaimed family drama, “1918,” April 16-19 in the Clarice L. Buckman Theater at Quinnipiac, 275 Mount Carmel Ave. in Hamden.

Set in a small Texas town against the backdrop of the closing year of World War I, “1918” follows the fortunes of a young married couple, Horace Robedaux and his wife Elizabeth, who, during a time of national crisis, strive to keep their hopes alive and their family together in the face of crushing personal tragedy. Crystal Brian, professor of theater, will direct.

The role of Horace Robedaux will be played by Ryan Devaney of Wallingford, and Sara Detrick of Fairfield will play Elizabeth Robedaux. Also in the cast are: Ryan Sheehan of Forestdale, Mass., as Elizabeth’s brother; Crystal Brian and Drew Scott, an adjunct theater professor, as Elizabeth’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn; Tenneh Sillah of Boston, as Sam Goldman; Maggie Pinnow of West Boylston, Mass., as Bessie Stillman; Jennifer Dupre of Hamburg, N.J., as Gladys Maude; Amber Hopwood of Middleboro, Mass., as Irma Sue; Robert Timpa of East Northport, N.Y., as Dr. Greene; Bradley Strauss as a boy; and Keely Baisden of Guilford, an adjunct faculty member, as Mrs. Boone, Mrs. Stewart and Ruth Amos.

Tricia Petraven, associate professor of theater, will design the set; costumes will be designed by Anya Sokolovskaya; Dana Umble, of Hamden, will design the lighting; Julia Salvia, of Holmdel, N.J., will design hair, makeup and special effects; and Mariah Sage, adjunct faculty member in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, will be the voice and dialect coach. Live music will be provided byTimothy Dansdill, associate professor of English, Alan Bruce, professor of sociology, (bass), and Leonard W. Engel, professor of English (drums).

“1918” will be performed April 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. and April 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 students and seniors and $15 general admission. Reservations and advance purchases can be made at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1358598.
