Fairfield Student Awarded College-Sponsored National Merit Scholarship
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation this week announced 3,000+ winners of scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A student at Fairfield Warde High School has been named one of more than 3,000 recipients of a college-sponsored scholarship for 2023 by the National Merit Scholarship Program, according to officials.
Nhatanh A. V. Tran, whose probable career field is software engineering, received the scholarship from the University of Texas at Dallas.
The scholarship provides between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the award.

For 2023, 153 higher education institutions are underwriting Merit Scholarship awards
through the National Merit Scholarship Program, according to officials. Sponsor colleges and universities include 81 private and 72 public institutions located in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
"College-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners announced [this week] are a part of the distinguished group of more than 7,140 high school seniors who will receive National Merit Scholarships for college undergraduate study worth nearly $28 million," officials said in a statement.
