Fairfield Superintendent Donates Kidney to Son

Superintendent of Schools David Title donated a kidney to his son Russell, just four days before his 26th birthday.

Fairfield Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Title recently returned to work after giving his son quite a birthday present — his kidney.

Title donated a kidney to his son Russell just four days before his 26th birthday.

The Fairfield Citizen reports that both Russell, and his brother, Jack, who died last April at the age of 20, were afflicted with Alport Syndrome, a genetic condition marked by hearing loss, vision problems and kidney disease.

Title, 58, told Genevieve Reilly of the Citizen that he was hoping to perhaps find a younger donor match but Russell’s doctors assured him that he would get at least another 20 years from his kidney.

Title tweeted on June 5 that he was cleared to resume work, on a limited basis, this past Tuesday and wrote “Thanks for support of all kinds from entire town & staff.”

Title returned home from the April 29 surgery on May 1 and Russell was released on May 2 and celebrated his birthday on May 3.
