Fairfield Teen Injured in Crash in Coma

Friends have launched a GoFundMe account in support of the teen.

The community is rallying around the Fairfield Warde student critically injured in a Wednesday morning crash on Knapps Highway and is reportedly in a coma at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Friends have created a GoFundMe account on behalf of Lee Faiga, who was the passenger in the Jeep that crashed into a utility pole and snapped it in two places.

The page was created by Susanna Maj on Thursday to help the family with medical expenses and more than $9,000 has been raised by 187 people in 24 hours as of 10:45 a.m.

According to the page, the driver of the Jeep has been released from the hospital, “while Lee remains in a coma in the ICU.”

The teens left Fairfield Warde around 11 a.m. in a Jeep traveling at a “high rate of speed” westbound on Knapps Highway, according to NBC Connecticut. The Jeep skidded sideways when the driver tried to turn and smashed into the utility pole.
